Ahmed Hassanien became the first Egyptian to be drafted to the NFL after the Detroit Lions selected him with the 196ᵗʰ overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft.
The Egyptian was emotional when Lions head coach Dan Campbell called to inform him that he was selected, Hassanien told him “I will die for you coach, I will die on the field for you”.

UAE FA Officially Announce Cosmin Olaroiu As The National Team Head Coach
The UAE FA have announced that former Sharjah coach Cosmin Olaroiu will now be the head coach of the UAE National Team, on a two-year-contract.
The Romanian head coach has been at the helm with Sharjah since 2021, winning the President’s Cup twice, the UAE League Cup and the UAE Super Cup with them.

Saudi Arabia’s major investments are transforming boxing, restoring the sport’s glamor, according to Mauricio Sulaiman, president of the World Boxing Council. He compares it to the heyday of Don King, who promoted boxing legends like Muhammad Ali.
The kingdom, led by Turki Al-Sheikh, has spent millions to host top-tier boxing events, including Tyson Fury’s fights with Oleksandr Usyk. The 2024 bouts featured prize pots over $100 million. the efforts are part of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s strategy to diversify the economy and boost tourism.
Sulaiman attended the Riyadh Season WBC Boxing Grand Prix and discussed the potential for long-term partnerships with Saudi Arabia, including the creation of a boxing museum and new international events. Sulaiman said he’s hopeful that Saudi cash will drive unification of boxing, “if it’s correctly handled.”
