Abu Dhabi’s Autonomous Racing League Heads To Imola

Abu Dhabi’s Autonomous Racing League will make its international debut at Imola on September 5, taking the UAE-born motorsport series outside Yas Marina Circuit for the first time. The race will feature up to five fully autonomous cars based on the Dallara Super Formula SF23, with teams from Germany, Italy and the UAE involved.
Why It Matters
This is a major step for A2RL as it pushes to become the world’s first international championship for fully autonomous race cars. Imola is one of Europe’s most challenging circuits, with narrow racing lines, elevation changes and limited run-off areas, making it a serious test for AI-driven racing technology.
What’s Next
Teams will prepare through simulation before getting limited testing time at Imola. After the international debut, A2RL will return to Yas Marina Circuit for the 2026 season finale, keeping Abu Dhabi as the home of the series while exploring more international races in the future.
