Moroccan international Ismael Saibari has had surgery on a torn ligament in his right ankle, according to Yahoo Sports. He left the stadium on crutches after Bayern Munich’s 2-2 draw with Borussia Dortmund in Der Klassiker on Saturday.

Why It Matters
Serge Gnabry was forced off two minutes after Saibari and has a hamstring injury, while Michael Olise left limping. Sporting director Max Eberl said both injuries “are somewhat larger” and admitted that “at the moment it feels a bit heavy”. Bayern were also without Luis Diaz, Jamal Musiala and Manuel Neuer, and head coach Vincent Kompany missed the match after a brief hospital stay.

Why It Matters
The club say Rios faces a treatment and rehabilitation programme, and they have not given a return date. Early indications suggest he will miss the next two fixtures, against UAE side Al Ain in the AFC Champions League Elite and against NEOM in the Roshn League.
